The HJHMS Better Girls Club prepared over 5000 eggs for their annual Easter egg hunt for Woodland Park Early Learning Center, Alaya's Early Learning Center, and Toddler's Early Learning Center. The club has been going to Woodland Park for eight years. They have also been donating eggs to Alaya's and Toddler's for the past eight years as well. Mrs. Eugene also volunteered her time in assisting Mrs. Whittington and the members of the Better Girls Club.

The Better Girls Club of Hammond Junior High Magnet School went to North Oaks Hospital to decorate two Christmas trees. They have been doing this community service for the past nine years. Better Girls Club is a service club committed to serving man kind. They have been in existance at Hammond Junior High School for eighteen years. Ms. Tamara Whittington has been the sponsor for sixteen years. The club members collect non-perishable food items for the Tangi Food Pantry for Thanksgiving, collect books for Christmas for two area Learning Centers, have an Easter Egg hunt for Woodland Park, participate in "Keep Hammond Beautiful" once a month, and they volunteer at school sponsored events.
