Hammond High Magnet School Torbotics team won the "Chairman's Award" at the Bayou Regional Competition this weekend. This is the most coveted of all the team awards and qualifies the team for the International Competition in St. Louis. In addition, Mrs. Shelly Gaydos was recognized as the "Most Outstanding Mentor," a very well deserved award as sponsor of the Torbotics team. She was awarded the" Woodie Flowers Award". Congratulations to all!
The Hammond High Magnet School ProStart restaurant management team recently earned 1st place in the Louisiana Seafood ProStart Student Invitational. Pictured are teacher Angie Dagro and students Sarah Davis (HHMS), Julia Lassalle (HHMS), Jemario Rheams(HHMS), Courtney Edwards (AHS), and Todreion Amos (PHS). For the competition, the team developed a business proposal and visual display for an original restaurant concept, complete with a floor plan, interior design, menu with recipes, pictures & pricing, and marketing plan & budget. The students pitched their plan to a panel of potential investors and responded to a variety of potential challenges faced by managers. The students will represent Louisiana on May 3-5 in Minneapolis at the National ProStart Student Invitational!
Woodland Park Elementary Magnet School's RoboRangers are collaborating monthly with Hammond High Magnet School's Robotics Team to create simple machines. The Robotics Team's taught the RoboRangers how to create a catapult that each Robo Ranger was able to take home.
