 Student of the Year

Roseland Montessori is proud to announce the recipient of the 2014-15 Student of the Year Award.  Aidan Harrelson is a 5th grade honor student at Roseland Montessori.  She has attended the school since its reconfiguration to a Montessori School 4 years ago.  She is currently the president of the 4-H club, a member of the Student Council, Beta Club, and Young Ladies Society.  She is a model student that enjoys challenges and prefers Social Studies class over any other subject.  Her hobbies include sports, reading, and helping care for her 4 younger brothers and sister.  She stated in her biography that without her family she would not be able to accomplish anything.  Aidan is a compassionate, friendly, loving, and giving student.  Aidan was awarded a plaque during the school's morning assembly on November 21st, where she proudly accepted her award.  Aidan serves as an inspiration to all the other students at Roseland Montessori.  Her example of Montessori philosophy and work ethic encompasses all that the school stands for.

Independence Elementary squirrel

Christy Ard’s 4th grade class at Independence Elementary experienced an awesome animal lesson recently. Mrs. Ard’s sons found baby squirrels who had fallen from their nest after one of the recent storms. They adopted the babies and have been caring for them. The squirrels visited Mrs. Ard’s class as a discussion starter on how weather can affect animals in the wild. The students were able to pet the squirrels, viewed videos, and later debated whether humans should change habitats of animals and its effects on them. Gracie Carr is shown above petting a baby squirrel in her class.

Independence Middle Open House

Parents were treated to the latest and greatest technology at Independence Middle Magnet's Open House. The general information normally presented to parents during an assembly was brought to them via video using the school's broadcast studio. Over 25 students participated in making the video for the night. Pictured is student Alyssa Ball practicing her part for the video. Visit the IMMS website to view the latest pictures, information, broadcast, and Open House video. Thanks to our parents Open House was a huge success!
