 Majority to Minority Transfers

Majority-to-minority transfers shall be submitted on or before April 15 and received by the Child Welfare & Attendance Office. A student may opt to return to his/her attendance zone school at the end of the first semester or at the end of the school year. However, if a student opts to return to his/her attendance zone at the end of the semester, he must give at least 15 days’ notice prior to the beginning of the next semester. The school system shall provide transportation for all majority–to–minority transfer students requesting the same from a paired sending school to a paired receiving school.  Such majority–to–minority students shall have a preference for enrollment in a paired receiving school. Majority–to–minority transfer students shall have a preference for admission to a receiving school. School, grade, or class overcrowding shall not be a reason for denial of a majority–to minority transfer.

Any student approved for an M-to-M Transfer for the 2016-17 school year shall remain so enrolled through completion of the terminal grade of the school unless he/she shall opt to return to his/her home attendance zone school.

A student may be granted an M-to-M transfer to a non-paired school (a school other than a school or schools paired with the student's home attendance zone school) but must provide his own transportation.
