A Bubble of Confidence - Helping Your Child Prepare for a Standardized Test

The 2008 Released Test Item documents (RIDs) have now been posted to the Louisiana State Department of Education website.   This should bring you to the Released Test Items in PDF format for all grades and content areas going back to 2000.  They're a great resource for helping students become familiar with both the style and the scoring of LEAP and GEE test items, and can be used for classroom practice.

iLEAP Assessment Guides for Teachers

LEAP and GEE Assessment Guides for ELA, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies are now up and running!  They are posted on the State Department website in PDF format, separated into chapters by grade and content area for easy use: http://www.doe.state.la.us/lde/saa/1341.html
**Please make sure that you print the Preface in addition to your content-specific chapter!**  Each individual content chapter contains the following sections:
  • Test Structure, Item Types, and Test Description
  • Scoring Information (for both multiple-choice and constructed-response/short answer items)
  • Test Specifications: describe the number of test questions and points assigned to strand/standard)
  • Strands, Standards, Benchmarks, and or Dimensions Assessed
  • Key Concepts: describe skills/concepts students should know and be able to do on the statewide assessment
  • Sample Items (including at least one sample for every kind of item assessed)
  • Benchmarks Across Grades (in chart format)
  • Achievement Level Descriptors
  • Math Reference Sheet (Math chapter only) and Writer's Checklist (ELA chapter only)
Additionally, the Appendices at the end contain the following: a glossary of assessment-related terms; information regarding testing accommodations/testing special populations students; detailed scoring information regarding constructed-response items, short answer items, and the ELA writing prompt; and a list of the general foundation skills embedded in the Louisiana Content Standards across all grades and subjects.
