	Greetings, I am the proud principal of Hammond Westside Upper Elementary School. Here at H.W.U. we strive to create a climate where learning exceeds excellence. I hope that the 2009-2010 year will be one of the best educational growth years that your child ever experience. The entire faculty and staff of Hammond Westside Upper are committed and dedicated to working with every child. We believe in the African proverb which states “It takes a village to raise a child.” We would like to thank all of our parents, community leaders and members for assisting us with becoming the best that we can be.  We have established high expectations for our students, that is why we chose the motto “Hammond Westside is the Best Side.”
